He is pursuing a Master’s degree at the University of Kisangani, specializing in aquatic Biology. His research centers on freshwater crustaceans, mentored by Dr. Pierre A. Mvogo Ndongo, a renowned African crab specialist from Cameroon.
Recent preliminary studies on the biodiversity of the freshwater crustacean fauna in the lowland forest of the Yangambi Biosphere Reserve (YBR) and the highland Maiko National Park (MNP) have revealed remarkably rich species diversity and endemism. Funding is requested for biodiversity inventory of freshwater crustaceans in lowland ecosystems of the YBR and highland protected areas of the MNP over a six-month period. In addition, these ecosystems will be assessed for damage and the physico-chemical characteristics of the water will be recorded. Estimates of species diversity and Crustacean abundance will be made, and long-term threats to Crabs and ecosystems will be established. The results will be scientifically evaluated, used for IUCN red list conservation and made available to the DRC’s national red data assessments for the respective species.
